At 35 years of age, he intends to reach the Carondelet Palace and thus fulfill the dream of his father, Alvaro Noboa, one of the richest person in the country due to his banana industry, who ran for the presidency five times without success.
To present himself in the race for the head of the Executive, the young Noboa turned to an alliance called National Democratic Action (ADN).
This coalition is formed by the movements People, Equality and Democracy, founded by the cousin of former President Lenin Moreno (2017-2021), and Mover, former Alianza Pais, party of former President Rafael Correa which changed its name after the break with Moreno.
With this formal endorsement of the Moreno family, the former assemblyman who claims to have studied at Harvard and to be a music lover, presents himself as someone new in politics, but he was in the legislature between 2021 and 2023.
In the first round of the current electoral process, he was not considered one of the favorites but surprised with 23 percent of support that catapulted him to this Sunday’s runoff against Luisa Gonzalez, the candidate of the leftist movement Revolucion Ciudadana.
