As it happened before for the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, also held this year, the Olympic and World Olympic and World Cup multiple medalists Idalis Ortiz (judo) and Julio César La Cruz (boxing) were the ones chosen to receive the national flag.
Canoeist Yarisleydis Cirilo, triple jumper Leyanis Perez and boxers Lazaro Alvarez and Arlen Lopez escorted the flag bearers of the Cuban delegation; while Daniela Darriba, member of the Basque pelota team, read the oath of the 365 athletes who will represent Cuba in 35 disciplines in Chile.
Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party, gave the main speech of the ceremony, praising merits and commitment of the Cuban sports movement ahead of the competitive challenge represented by this edition of the Games, the first to be held after the Covid-19 pandemic.
