In an interview with Prensa Latina, Wang Jieding, a Spanish student at the University of Beijing, said that despite a special relation between the two countries, many Chinese people have no knowledge about Cuba, its customs and people.
“I think we should reverse this situation and I personally would very much like to visit Cuba,” Jieding said.
Wei Tiange, also from the same school, on the other hand, stated there is a generalized perception that Cuba, being a small country, is not so important for China. “This is a mistake, I have read Cuban literature, I think it is very interesting and people should learn about it,” Tiange added.
The young students attended the closing ceremony of the Cuban film series presented by the Cuban Embassy in China, with the purpose of celebrating Cuban Culture Day and strengthening bilateral exchanges.
