Cuba and France go for gold in Youth Baseball5 World Cup

Ankara, Oct 13 (Prensa Latina) With one day left in the super round, the teams of Cuba and France today secured the right to discuss the title of the first baseball World Cup5.

The island team maintained its undefeated passage through the tournament by beating the French and Chinese Taipei, in both cases two sets to zero, and even if it loses tomorrow with Mexico it is unattainable for the other medal contenders.

France managed to beat the Turkish hosts 2-1 in their second game of the day and with that outcome they also reached the final on Sunday, since in the event of a tie with Mexico and Türkiye they benefit from the victories achieved against both.

Nor are the Saturday games going to modify the rest of the order much, since any combination keeps Mexicans and Turks in the positions that will seek the bronzed metal.

In the super round, each team dragged the results with the other classified teams in their group and only have the teams from the other section as opponents.

On the last date of the round of the best six teams of the championship, Cuba will face Mexico, France will clash with China and Türkiye will be the rival of Chinese Taipei.

Behind Cuba (4-0), are France (3-1), Mexico and Türkiye (2-2) and the already eliminated China (1-3) and Chinese Taipei (0-4).

A victory for the Asian giant’s team would not displace their immediate predecessors in the standings, after falling in the respective bilateral clashes.

The victory of the Cubans over the French (11-1 and 7-4) tilts in their favor the predictions of the majority of experts and the press accredited to the World Cup, who also praise the unbeatable pace in all the sets played by the young people of the Caribbean nation.

Baseball5 is a young sport that promotes gender equality with the integration of mixed teams and extends its practice to all continents with the use of few resources. ef/oda/nrg
