Boric will be accompanied by the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Agriculture, Transport and Public Works and by the government spokeswoman, Camila Vallejo.
According to the agenda released by the Presidency, Boric will begin his activities on October 14th in the city of Chengdu, where he will preside over the inauguration of Chile Week China, a program for the international promotion of Chile’s exports.
He will later give a master class at Sichuan University and visit the Technological Center for Innovation in Agricultural Issues, as well as the Lithium Museum.
On October 15th, Boric will travel to Beijing, where he will be received by President Xi Jinping, the head of the National People’s Congress, Zhao Leji, and Prime Minister Li Qiang.
The Chilean president will participate in the Third Belt and Road Forum, which will bring together more than 110 member countries of the initiative, and whose main topics will revolve around commercial connectivity, green development, and digital economy.
“President Boric’s trip to Beijing will give a new tone to the bilateral relationship, to take it to a level beyond the commercial one,” declared the ambassador of Chile to China, Mauricio Hurtado, who recalled that China has been the main trading partner of Chile for 13 years, and its growth is very relevant for Chile.
