Venezuelans celebrate Day of Indigenous Resistance and Essequibo

Caracas, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelans on Thursday celebrate in Caracas and in other states the Day of Indigenous Resistance and Decolonization in defense of Essequibo and support of President Nicolás Maduro.

In Caracas, the mobilization is set, Nahum Fernández, head of Caracas’ Government, informed on X social media.

Fernández, who also serves as Vice President of Mobilization and Events of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), also said that the indigenous peoples of Zulia (northwest), Delta Amacuro (northeast), Bolivar (southeast), and Amazonas (central south) will take to the streets to commemorate this date.

“We will make history again on October 12,” he stated, pointing out that “no empire could defeat the strength of our people.”

Fernández announced that he had agreed with Venezuelan Minister of Indigenous Peoples Clara Vidal to go to the National Assembly to submit a document to support the consultative referendum approved by the legislators in defense of Guyana’s Essequibo region.
