France confirms to keep humanitarian aid to Palestine

Paris, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) The French government confirmed on Thursday to keep its €95 million humanitarian aid to Palestine per year, allocated to back the possibility of a viable State and to support the most vulnerable.

The Foreign Ministry detailed that President Emmanuel Macron has been crystal-clear about the continuity of such assistance and its analysis in the European scenario.

France has backed Israel after Hamas’ attack on Saturday, in an escalating conflict, amounting to over 1,000 deaths on both sides of the border, the vast majority of them civilians.

However, Macron ruled out suspending aid to the occupied Palestinian people, assistance that seeks to benefit refugees and provide access to food, health and drinking water.

On the issue of humanitarian corridors to the Gaza Strip, a densely populated territory that Israel is bombing and smothering by a complete siege in response to Hamas action, the Foreign Ministry stated that up to now, there is no information of additional support from Paris.

The Quai d’Orsay reiterated France’s call for respecting international law, which includes humanitarian access, in particular that dedicated to meeting the basic needs of the population, such as water, food, electricity and health.

On Thursday, the first evacuation flight of French nationals in Israel arrived on France, and the Counterterrorist Prosecutor’s Office announced the opening of an investigation into the French victims of the Hamas attack.
