Cuba and France boost university and academic cooperation (+Photo)

Paris, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Minister of Higher Education Walter Baluja concluded a busy agenda in France on Wednesday to strengthen bilateral ties in the university and academic fields, and outlined the participation in various events.

This visit to France was part of the key objective of continuing to promote the internationalization of higher education, a strategic projection for the development of both the sector and the country, and we think it was profitable, he told Prensa Latina.

The minister met with representatives of the ministries of Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Higher Education and Research, the Sorbonne and Paris Cité universities, the Council of Rectors France Universités, the institution that promotes academic mobility Campus France and the Agence Universitaire de Francophonie.

In France, the Cuban minister explored new potentials for cooperation and discussed with his interlocutors issues such as digital transformation, quality and resilience of higher education, doctoral and postgraduate studies, the use of renewable energy sources and the recognition and certification of degrees.

Baluja explained that in its relations with France in higher education, Cuba seeks a larger symmetry in graduate student exchanges.

I think that Cuba also offers opportunities for the French, with the possibility for them to change their research and experimentation scenarios, in a country that is committed to a governance system based on the results of science and innovation, he stressed.
