Belize celebrates ceremony for the start of Cuba’s Independence Day

Belmopan, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) The diplomatic mission of Cuba in Belize conmemorated the 155th anniversary of the beginning of the independence of the island and the day of the national culture with a political celebration, the legation reported Wednesday.

As part of the activity, the Cuban health collaborators highlighted their commitment to maintain the quality and professionalism in the services they provide to the Belizean population.

They also denounced the campaigns that seek to demerit the medical collaboration provided by professionals, who constitute an expression of humanism and solidarity of the island.

According to the diplomatic source, during the ceremony, a group of collaborators who concluded their work in the Central American country with satisfactory results, were bid farewell.

Ambassador Maria Caridad Balaguer, also highlighted the importance of the events that took place in Cuba on October 10, 1868 in the formation of the Cuban nationality and in the revolutionary process since then.

She also demanded the end of the economic, financial and commercial blockade that the United States has maintained for over 60 years against the island, the exclusion of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, and the cessation of subversive campaigns.

On October 10, 1868, the insurgent lawyer Carlos Manuel de Céspedes pronounced in the east of the island the declaration of independence known as the Manifesto of the Revolutionary Junta of Cuban Island, which included universal and advanced postulates for that time.
