Jazz Vilá’s passion for theater

Havana, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) An artist of emotions, that is Cuban Jazz Vilá, who returns to put his great talent into practice with a new theatrical premiere, after his successful presentation in New York with his plays "Farándula" and "Candela".

The outstanding actor and director returned triumphant from the Big Apple to return to the stage in this capital city with the play “Barataria”, inspired by Cervantes’ “entremeses” (interludes), recognized short plays of the Spanish Golden Age.

With this staging, its director weaves a creative dramaturgy that links elements of “La Ínsula Barataria” with the story of the street Quixote, intertwining, at the same time, his distinctive artistic traits with his passion for theater.

In a recent interview with Prensa Latina, on the occasion of his U.S. tour, Vilá showed his commitment to take Cuba’s cultural richness to the whole world, and now with Sunday’s premiere at the Adolfo Llauradó theater, located on Linea Street -the focal point of Havana’s theatrical activity- this theatrical artist is once again creating something extraordinary.

With “Barataria”, this young Cuban artist incorporates interactive theatrical elements, taking his experience on stage to a high innovative level.

Starring the play are: actor Ariel Zamora in the legendary role of Don Quixote, Rolando Rodríguez as Sancho, while the other cast members are Carlos Gonsalvo as Benito and René de la Cruz as Vejete.
