Candidate Javier Milei’s proposals criticized in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) Denying gender gap, climate change, and genocide is to go against the world and the progress of science, Argentine presidential spokeswoman Gabriela Cerruti said on Monday, while referring to statements made by candidate Javier Milei. During the debates held before the October 22 general elections, Milei, leader of La Libertad Avanza (Liberty Advances-LLA), claimed that "an estimated 30,000 people disappeared" during the 1976-1983 civil-military dictatorship in this country and "there was a war in the 70's in which the State forces committed excesses."

The candidate also rejected the establishment of the University of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo and once again defended the so-called theory of the two demons, which pretends to equate the dictatorship’s crimes with the struggle of the guerrilla organizations.

He insisted on a “liberal revolution” to end inflation and the political “caste.” He once again described as nefarious the premise that where there is a need, there is a right, defended by Peronism and supported by social and trade union organizations.

He also proposed a profound reform of the State, a drastic reduction in public spending, privatizations, opening the economy, and eliminating ministries, among other measures criticized by his opponents.
