“Currently, in the area of one of the groups, the construction, assembly, and commissioning work is being conducted at the final stage of units and systems of launching silos and command centers,” the Russian military institution stated.
During a visit to the Krasmash plant, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was briefed by the company’s management on implementing contracts for the production of the Sarmat complex.
“Equipping the Strategic Missile Forces with this complex, which will become the foundation for the land-based grouping of Russia’s strategic nuclear forces, is a priority for ensuring the country’s defense capabilities,” the minister said.
“The task of equipping the first missile regiment of the main facility of the Strategic Missile Forces with the Sarmat complex is currently being resolved,” Shoigu said, stressing that the deployment is being conducted in tune of the decision by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Sarmat missile has been developed at the Makeyev State Rocket Center and is manufactured by the Krasmash plant. Both companies are part of Roscosmos.
