Law on income tax enacted in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Oct 6 (Prensa Latina) Law 27 725 was published in Argentina's Official Gazette and as from 2024 a modification of the income tax promoted by the Minister of Economy and presidential candidate, Sergio Massa, will be applied.

Such initiative was conceived to prevent employees from paying contributions for the income obtained as a result of their work and was approved on September 28 by the Senate.

The legislation exempts from the payment of this tax about 700 thousand employees in a relationship of dependency and provides for the creation of a tax on high income for those who earn more than 15 times the minimum, vital and mobile salary (118 thousand Argentine pesos, or 323 dollars).

In this way, only about 80 thousand managers, company directors, privileged retirees or beneficiaries of high-income companies will be left paying this tax, according to Massa.

For more than 10 years I have maintained that salary is not a profit. From now on, the elimination of the tax on workers is a reality, the minister emphasized.

My presidency will be marked by the recovery of wages and income, he added, referring to the possibility of a victory in the general elections of October 22nd.
