De los Santos stated that the conditions do not exist to resort to this method. Instead, he asked to wait for the results of international cooperation with the future deployment of a multinational force to that neighboring country at the request of the Haitian authorities and approved by the United Nations.
On Thursday, Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez also ruled out arbitration to resolve the crisis that led to the total closure of the border with Port-au-Prince.
In an appearance before the Senate, Alvarez said this is not the time to enter into issues of this nature, given the conditions experienced by that Government and the arrival of a multinational force.
The minister assured that the National Executive would continue to defend sovereignty and said, “We will only dialogue with Haiti if they stop works,” President Luis Abinader set as a condition to go to talks.
President Luis Abinader announced on September 14 the total closure of the border with Haiti by sea, land, and air.
