From September to October 1973, members of the San Bernardo Infantry School arrested the 17-year-old student Ignacio Santander, agricultural workers Carlos Manuel Ortiz,18, and Juan Guillermo Cuadra,26, at their homes.
The victims were shot down on October 5 and 6, and Santander’s whereabouts are still unknown.
As of kidnapping crime, the court sentenced Jorge Eduardo Romero, Alfonso Faudez Norambuena, Jose Hugo Vasquez and Jorge Fernando Reyes to 15 years and one day behind bars.
It further imposed 10 years and one day imprisonment for Pedro Escobar Norambuena, Carlos Enrique Duran, Carlos Lazo Santibañez, Jorge Saavedra and Victor Sandoval.
“The fact that convictions of these criminals have been confirmed is a relief for the victims’ families, who have patiently waited for justice,” Plaintiff Attorney Andrea Gattini at the Caucoto Abogados law firm said.
