The WB published a study titled “Connected: Digital Technologies for Inclusion and Growth. Economic Report of Latin America and the Caribbean (October 2023)” stating that Brazil will be the economy with the greatest expansion (2.6%), while Bolivia will occupy the second place, with 1.9%.
GDP measures the monetary value of final goods and services, that is, those goods purchased by the final consumer— produced by a country in a given period, generally a year, and counts the product generated within the borders.
Bolivia projects a GDP growth of 4.86% for 2023, representing a great recovery compared to 2020, when the government of Jeanine Áñez left a drop of minus 8.8%.
The study of the WB coincided with a report published on Thursday by the Bolivian National Institute of Statistics, which states that as a result of a negative variation (lower prices) of 0.06 percent, accumulated inflation in September reached 1.49 percent.
The indicator is one of the lowest compared to other countries in the region at the same stage.
President Luis Arce reiterated that Bolivia “is going to disappoint” downward forecasts made by some international organizations.
