According to the organizers, a main theme of the event is the rivalry of extra-hemispheric and extra-regional actors in Latin America, a section that will be shared in the panels of the Faculty of International Relations of the State University of Saint Petersburg.
Participants will also pay special attention to the place of Latin America in new forms of interregional cooperation, such as South-South dialogue, Russian-Latin American cooperation in various regions of the world, and new formats of cooperation in international organizations.
This Thursday’s program includes the keynote address by executive director of GWL Voices for Change and Inclusion, María Fernanda Espinosa, who will present a research project called “The Feminine Factor in politics and Diplomacy in Latin America in the 21st Century.”
The professor at the University of Buenos Aires-Conicet, Hernán Camarero, will present his experiences about the 80 years of Peronism in Argentina, its historical balance and perspectives.
The Russian Council on International Relations and the ambassadors of Latin American countries in Russia will hold two round tables, to address topics such as Moscow’s cooperation with Latin America in the change of scientific diplomacy.
The 6th International Forum “Russia and Ibero-America in the turbulent world” will last until October 6th and continues the tradition of conferences and forums on studies of Latin America and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal, held in Saint Petersburg biannually since 2013.
