Spanish Ambassador in Cuba Angel Martin Peccis told reporters recently,after highlighting the special historical ties with Cuba, that the event was conceived around Spain’s National Day, on October 12, and is dedicated to the Cuban people, the societies and entrepreneurs of both countries, and the Spanish Cubans.
The diplomat stated that the program includes high-quality proposals, including cinema, music, literature, dance, visual arts, theater, and gastronomy, which also links the two nations.
Among those events are: the Spanish Film Showcase at “23 y 12” and “Acapulco” movie theaters for five days, representing different styles and trends of contemporary Iberian cinema.
Another activity is the meeting “Mañana literaria en clave femenina” on October 5, with Spanish playwright Nieves Rodriguez, who will give a keynote speech on essayist and philosopher Maria Zambrano at the Jose Marti National Library.
Another attractive proposal is the performance of flamenco singer Argentina and her band, nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards in 2013 and 2015. She will give two concerts, on October 7 and 9, at the Havana Amphitheater and the Martí Theater, respectively.
Laura Lopez, a cultural counselor of the Spanish Embassy in Havana, recommended “Gala de la Hispanidad: pasos y huellas,” with performances by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba, Micompañía, the Spanish Ballet of Cuba, ECOS Flamenco Company, and Acosta Danza company.
