New Delhi, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) India and Bangladesh are carrying out a joint military exercise on Wednesday to improve interoperability between the two armies, share tactical maneuvers, and promote best practices.

The 11th edition of SAMPRITI, to be held in Meghalaya’s Umroi for two weeks, involves about 350 troops from both countries as an example of the bilateral defense cooperation initiatives, an official press release stated.

Bangladesh contributes 170 troops, led by Brigadier Mohammed Mafizul Islam Rashed, Commander of 52 Infantry Brigade Bangladesh.

India is sharing its expertise with a battalion of the RAJPUT Regiment led by Brigadier SK Anand, Commander of a Mountain Brigade.

Personnel from several units, including artillery, engineers, and other supporting arms, are also involved.

SAMPRITI-XI will consist of a series of joint tactical drills with 20 officers and a Field Training Exercise involving counter-terrorist operations, hostage rescue, crowd control measures, and helicopters.

A Validation Exercise will be held at the Darranga Field Firing Range in Assam on October 14 and 15, the Indian Ministry of Defense informed.
