The event, sponsored by the National Directorate of Stomatology and the University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba, includes speakers from Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and the host country.

In the context of the 60th Anniversary of the creation of the Faculty of Dentistry of Santiago, the objective of the event, which will conclude tomorrow, is to promote scientific exchange between Cuban and foreign professionals, and to socialize the results of research, explained Dr. Cristina Perdomo, Dean of the Faculty.

Dr. Mariela García Jordán, national director of Stomatology of the Ministry of Public Health, gave the inaugural conference with the title “Cuban Dentistry on the path of the 2030 Agenda.”

Regarding the significance of the Congress, the Second Degree Specialist in Prosthetics and member of the honor roll, Dr. Raúl Castillo Rosix, highlighted that, even besieged by the United States blockade, Cuban dentistry transcended the national context, which constitutes an achievement , a pride and the realization of a dream that began in October 1963.

On the other hand, Dr. in Dentistry Juan José Ibarra, professor and Director of the Faculty of Stomatology of the National University of Tucumán, Argentina, praised the importance of the exchange of experiences between his country and Cuba and confessed to being surprised with what It is done here in terms of prevention, a practice that it considers very necessary.

With the motto “Science based on an eternal smile”, the congress has more than 160 presentations on seven topics, the largest representation around “Stomatological care at the primary level, where topics such as promotion, prevention , diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, pediatric dentistry, surgery and endodontics.
