Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and prime minister, Manuel Marrero, attended on Monday the opening day at the Havana Convention Palace of this conclave, considered the largest annual trade event of Aladi.
The multi-sector, macro business roundtable seeks to promote the economic development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The meeting is attended by 364 Latin American companies, 208 exporters and 156 importers, and constitutes an opportunity for Cuban entities, whose commercial and financial operations are hindered by the economic blockade imposed six decades ago by the United States against the island, considerably affecting the population.
According to the organizers, the meeting focuses on the exchange of goods in the sectors of agribusiness and livestock, food and beverages, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, textiles, clothing and footwear, plastics, containers and packaging, which play a prominent role in the regional economy.
Negotiations are also underway regarding services provided to companies, communications, transportation and tourism, important sectors for the development of commercial relations between the member countries of Aladi.
