Once again we reiterate our support for the Republic of Cuba in the face of all the challenges it faces, especially the sanctions and the inhumane financial, commercial and economic blockade imposed by the United States, the Syrian Foreign Ministry reaffirmed in a statement on Tuesday.
It also praised Cuba’s rejection of the policy of domination, colonialism, exploitation and interference in the internal affairs of independent countries.
The communiqué demanded that Cuba be removed from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
It is a false and shameful list, by means of which Washington exercises open blackmail against sovereign countries and justifies its interference in the internal affairs of other nations, the text pointed.
Syria strongly condemned the recent attack on the Cuban Embassy in Washington and described it as terrorist.
Attacking diplomatic missions is an illegal act and is considered a serious violation of international conventions, norms and laws, it said.
It considered that the US Government has the duty to guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and ensure that the perpetrators of such violent acts are held accountable, according to Article 22 of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
