The Cuban diplomat accredited in Colombo discussed those issues during a courtesy visit to the person in charge of Western Hemisphere affairs at the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry, a press release from the Cuban Embassy stated.
During the meeting, also attended by Sathya Rodrigo, director for Latin America and the Caribbean Division at the Foreign Ministry, Wickremesinghe’s visit to Cuba to attend the G77+China Summit in Havana in September was also addressed.
The Sri Lankan head of State met with his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel, to review bilateral relations, and they highlighted the ties of friendship that unite the two peoples.
Diaz-Canel expressed his willingness to boost political dialogue to the highest level and his interest in expanding economic and commercial relations.
Later, Wickremesinghe told reporters that areas of future cooperation, including public health care, agriculture, and sports, had been identified.
