Police investigate bomb attack on school in Ecuador

Quito, Oct 2 (Prensa Latina) The National Police of Ecuador are investigating a bomb attack in the coastal city of Guayaquil, in the province of Guayas, on Sunday night.

According to local media, the educational institution was attacked by subjects on a motorcycle who threw an explosive device.

The website of Primicias revealed that neighbors said that some days ago the school had received threats from alleged extortionists, who were asking for nearly 1,000 dollars from the school’s directors.

For this reason, the residents claim that last Thursday and Friday, some parents did not send their children to school.

On Monday, the school was guarded by a few police officers, while the neighbors of the sector gathered outside the school to learn about authorities’ decisions; however, until this morning the resolution was unknown.

The bomb caused material damages outside the school, but no casualties were reported.
