Legislative commission on coup in Brazil enters final phase

golpistas
Brasilia, Oct 2 (Prensa Latina) The Parliamentary Investigation Commission (CPI) on the coup of January 8th in Brazil entered the final stretch of its work with the aim of presenting a report on October 17th.

No new testimonies should be called after that day. The deadline until the last day of operation of the CPI, November 20th, should be used in evaluating the contents of the report.

This report is a summary of all the work carried out since May and which should indicate those responsible for the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers (National Congress, Supreme Court and Presidential Palace), in Brasilia.

There will be at least two statements this week: businessman Argino Bedin, suspected of being a financier of the antidemocratic episodes, will appear on Tuesday, while Second Lieutenant José Beroaldo Freitas Jr., of the Shock Battalion of the Military Police of the Federal District, who acted in defense of the National Congress on January 8th, will testify on Thursday at the request of Deputy Delegate Ramaje.

According to the O Tempo newspaper, there are still doubts about the schedule of the days following these two testimonies and the date on which the report will be delivered.

The same situation occurs with other persons of interest such as Bolsonaro and Admiral Almir Garnier de Souza, former Navy commander, who made troops available for an eventual coup d’état after the 2022 elections.
