The annual meeting of the left started at the Miguel Rios Fairgrounds in Rivas-Vaciamadrid with an agenda full of talks, debates, book presentations, documentaries, theater, and concerts that will occupy the mostly young audience during this weekend.

The first debate presented by the MEP Manu Pineda in the Espacio La Pasionaria was “Peace Plan: initiative for a global security” in which leaders of the PCE specified that this organization is opposed to war, advocates a negotiated peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine, and strongly rejects the warmongering maneuvers of NATO and the sending of weapons to the Kiev regime.

Former Izquierda Unida MEP Willy Meyer stated that as long as the supply of increasingly destructive weapons such as cluster bombs and depleted uranium bombs to Ukrainian soil continues, the longer a negotiated solution to the conflict will be delayed and the more the Ukrainian and Russian peoples will suffer.
