The activity, headed by Ambassador Luis Mariano Fernández Rodríguez, was attended by Syrian citizens, Cubans living in Syria and also members of the Association of Syrian Professionals graduated from Cuban universities.
In his words, Fernández Rodríguez said that celebrating CDR´s 63rd anniversary in Damascus has a double meaning because we reaffirm our commitment to remain CDR members in this country.
The CDRs have been part of Cuba’s history and it is a popular support for the Cuban Revolution.
Fernández Rodríguez said CDR´s 63rd anniversary is valid amid complicated moments where the US blockade is being tightened.
The head of the Association of Syrian Graduates in Cuba George Bittar, on the other hand, told Prensa Latina that “Syrians and Cubans are presently celebrating this important date and we are once again reaffirming our condemnation of the genocidal blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
