Solidarity movements call for the end of U.S. blockade against Cuba (+Photos)

Havana, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) Solidarity movements with Cuba on Friday called for the end of the U.S. blockade, as well as for Cuba’s exclusion from States Sponsoring Terrorism (SST) list.

Representatives of solidarity organizations and movements from Ecuador, Venezuela, Russia, Brazil, Spain, the United States, Uruguay and Mexico gathered at the Havana International Conference Center (HICC) to express their support for Cuba, while stressing the pressing need to take concrete actions against the economic, commercial and financial U.S blockade.

At the solidarity meeting, held in the framework of the recently concluded 10th Congress of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), participants called for immediate return to Cuba of the Guantanamo Naval Base, occupied for over a century against the will of the Cuban people and its government.

In the meeting, the Venezuelan Communes and Social Movements Minister Jorge Arreaza priased the capacity of the Cuban Revolution to move forward amid difficulties, and described it as a guiding light for the countries of the world.

Meanwhile, representatives of the “Hermanamiento Nou Barris-El Cerro” Spanish Group pointed out that all peace-loving people should be willing to help Cuba because turns out an example of struggle for the world.
