The plenary session of the conference, under the theme “Russia and Latin America: Cooperation in a fair world for all,” will take place in the State Duma on October 2.
Participants in the event will discuss the role of parliamentary diplomacy in building a just multipolar world and in security issues.
The conference will consist of round tables dedicated to equal and mutually beneficial economic cooperation and the development of humanitarian ties between Russia and Latin America.
According to Duma President Viacheslav Volodin, more than 200 participants are expected to attend the event, including parliamentarians, public figures and diplomats from Latin American and Caribbean countries, who will discuss current issues on the international parliamentary agenda with their Russian counterparts.
In this regard, Volodin pointed out that over half of the Latin American countries had decided to attend the conference, and noted that “many bilateral meetings” will be held within the framework of the event, as several delegations will be led by parliamentary leaders.
Volodin had previously stated that more countries are choosing the course of pursuing independent policies, adhering to a development model based on the defense of national interests, and seeing Russia as a trusted partner with whom they can build relations of equality and mutual respect.
