KCNA reported on Friday that the modernization of fishing boats and gears, as well as the construction of fish farms and expansion of the existing ones, are progressing nationwide.

The Fishing Research Institute has developed a mathematical model to determine the areas where there are more fish for a rational exploitation of resources.

According to the Ministry of Fisheries, this work is part of a program to increase productivity in the sector to achieve self-sufficiency and food security.

Fish is one of the leading products in the diet of DPRK citizens.
