The artist, who is a Cuban lawmaker, began her tour accompanied by guitarist Eduardo Corcho in the Valencian capital and then performed in Buñol, Alicante, and Alfà del Pi, visits that the Association of Friendship with Cuba in Valencia organized, Cubainformación.com stated.
Garcés and Corcho will complete their stay in Spain with performances in Madrid this Saturday as part of an evening of troubadours at the Rincón Cubano during the PCE Festival, Spain’s major political and entertainment fair, in Rivas Vaciamadrid.
The program, organized by the José Martí Association of Friendship with Cuba based in Valencia, allowed knowing the artist’s work in different scenarios and participating in debates with leaders of the movement of solidarity with Cuba.
The singer spoke in those meetings about the role of youth and culture, as well as the situation in her country in the context of the struggle against the US blockade against Cuba and the cultural battle the artists committed to the Revolution are waging.
Garcés delighted the audience with Cuban trova songs, including “La Bayamesa;” “Canción (or De qué callada manera),” a poem written by National Poet Nicolás Guillén that Pablo Milanés turned into a huge hit; “Te doy una canción” by singer and songwriter Silvio Rodríguez; “Cuba que linda es Cuba;” and “Guantanamera.”
