COPPPAL President Alejandro Moreno said on Thursday that such an action, which he described as intolerable, against the diplomatic mission of a sister country, is a clear violation of international standards of respect and protection of foreign embassies.
For this reason, he urged US authorities to exercise the full weight of law against those responsible, and stressed that this is not the first incident against the Cuban Embassy since its reopening in 2015.
The recent attack only comes to further cloud the tense relationship between the United States and Cuba, and occurs in the context of the United Nations General Assembly with the participation of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
The COPPPAL president called for a halt to violence by extreme right-wing groups based mainly in Miami, which for decades have only fed hate speeches and intolerance against Cuba, the Cuban people and the Cuban Government and have contributed, unfortunately, to include Cuba among the countries that alledgely promote terrorism.
