“All-out resistance is the strategic choice for our people to achieve their rights and liberate their land,” Hamas stated in a press release marking the 23rd anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, as the second Palestinian uprising is known.
The Intifada is currently intense due to the Zionist invasion and aggression and its provocative attempts to attack and desecrate Al-Aqsa, the Movement stated, referring to the mosque in Jerusalem’s Old City, the third holiest site of Islam.
Without mentioning any country, it criticized the normalization of Arab and Muslim nations with Israel, saying that it “only serves the settlement and Judaization projects of the occupation and provides a cover for the continuation and escalation of its war against our defenseless people.”
Hamas has controlled the Gaza Strip since 2007; it has been subject to a severe blockade by its neighbor, a measure criticized by the United Nations and many non-governmental organizations for its impact on the civilian population.
For days, hundreds of Palestinians have gathered on the border to protest against the occupying power, which has led to clashes, fires, and attacks by Israeli aircraft in the Strip.
