Egypt and Russia talked about the conflict in Ukraine

Cairo, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) The President of Egypt, Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, received the secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Nikolai Patrushev, with whom he held a dialogue about the conflict in Ukraine.

The president reiterated Cairo’s call for talks to end the conflict, according to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency.

El-Sisi considers that it is essential to preserve international peace and security, and highlighted that the conflict has caused negative economic repercussions in the world, especially in terms of food security.

Both sides also analyzed ways to improve bilateral relations in various spheres and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest.

Patrushev conveyed President Vladimir Putin’s greetings to El-Sisi and emphasized Russia’s commitment to strengthening ties with Egypt, as part of the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed between the two countries.

El-Sisi highlighted the progress of cooperation, trade and joint projects, including the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant, in the north of Egypt, and the creation of a Russian industrial zone in the vicinity of the Suez Canal.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Intelligence Chief General Abbas Kamel, and the Presidential Advisor for National Security Affairs Fayza Abul Naga attended the meeting, along with several high-ranking Russian authorities.
