The decoration is granted every year to outstanding collectives, CDR members and families as an acknowledgment of their outstanding work in the neighborhoods, as well as for their contribution to the unity and the creation of values in Cuban society.
During the closing of the Congress, Gerardo Hernández, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, was ratified as national coordinator of the organization.
In addition, the acknowledgements to outstanding provinces were granted to Santiago de Cuba and Pinar del Río; while Granma received the distinction of National Vanguard from the hands of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
When presenting the final reports from the commissions, the delegates insisted on the importance of intensifying actions to make surveillance systems more effective and reinforce the protection of centers of economic interest in the communities.
They also called to strengthen the combativeness and participation of the CDR members in the fight against illegalities and social indiscipline.
