The deals penned by the respective delegations favor the regularization of the different situations that arise in the context of human mobility, which historically characterizes the two neighboring nations.
Among the agreements, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry’s website highlighted the holding of a technical meeting on Thursday to exchange good practices on the process to complete the documents.
It also mentioned the development of a technical round table on migratory matters on October 3, which will be linked to the regularization of citizens in both countries, with emphasis on Venezuelan and Colombian students.
The working teams also agreed on establishing campaigns to raise awareness among the population and “provide guidance on the options for a safe, orderly and regular migration,” and a binational technical round table will be set up on good practices in relation to persons deprived of their liberty.
The final minute also included the proposal to submit a memorandum of understanding related to the migration of children and adolescents and their safe return, to the foreign ministers to be considered for signature at the next bilateral meeting.
Other commitments dealt with binational attention to judicial cases, consular assistance to persons deprived of liberty in relation to their legal situation, extradition cases and judicial assistance in criminal matters, and the training of penitentiary service personnel, according to the source.
