The Movement stated in a press release that the hostile act was committed under the protection of the US Government, which, based on impunity, “gives free rein to sectors that sow and promote hatred against Cuba.
Corrupt US elites think that they are intimidating the heroic Cuban people with these actions; “they only strengthen the unity of patriots,” not only in Cuba but in America as a whole, which is in solidarity with the Island and against such cowardly attacks, it said.
The Movement pointed out that it is clear that the recent successes achieved by Havana in international affairs are “a mortal blow to the ego and imperialist arrogance,” which can only respond with violence. In this regard, it mentioned the recent G77+China Summit, to which more than 100 delegations globally attended, and the firm denunciation “of the genocidal and illegal blockade” that the international community reiterated before the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The statement recalled the words by Commander Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) when he said, “Cuba and Venezuela, even if they attack us, from wherever they attack us, we are generating and creating a new model of integration that, in my criteria, must be timely and an example of new models of true integration among peoples.”
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez announced Monday that an individual threw two Molotov cocktails at the Havana diplomatic headquarters on Sunday evening without causing any damage.
The head of Cuban diplomacy pointed out that this is the second violent attack on its Embassy in Washington since April 2020, when an individual opened fire with a rifle at the diplomatic mission.
