“We strongly condemn the armed attack on September 24th against the Cuban embassy in the United States,” the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, María Zakharova, declared.

The diplomat stressed that the crime “must not go unpunished” and called for “severe punishment” for its authors. “We hope that US authorities will conduct a prompt and thorough investigation into all the circumstances of the incident,” she added.

Zakharova stated that “this is not the first crime of this kind committed against the Cuban embassy in Washington,” and that “an environment of threats against the government of (Cuba) is cultivated in the United States.”

“We demand once again that the receiving party unconditionally guarantee the security of diplomatic missions of foreign States located on its territory in strict accordance with international obligations.”

“We express our solidarity with the brother people of the Republic of Cuba and full support for its Government,” she concluded.
