Justice demanded in Panama for abuse suffered by Youth deputy

Panama City, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Organizations for the protection of children and minors in Panama called for a protest today at the Legislative to demand justice for the sexual abuse against a deputy of the Youth Assembly.

“An Assembly that generates suspicion by archiving all bills to precisely provide protection to women and children in this country,” the statement said, which also calls on the authorities to take action in this case.

The alleged abuse of a minor who played an active role as a youth deputy representing Panama Oeste, prompted the Public Prosecutor’s Office to initiate an investigation in response to the complaint filed last September 19.

According to the mother’s testimony, the young girl is currently hospitalized. With no progress in the diagnosis and totally unstable. This case has brought shadows on a significant event in the political and educational life of the country: the Youth Assembly. Moreover, it is framed in a context in which the Prosecutor’s Office is already handling a considerable number of cases of rape and other sexual crimes, with a total of 3,937 registered up to August.
