India unveils knowledge of traditional medicine to African diplomats

New Delhi, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) For the first time Ambassadors and high commissioners of African nations visited the Institute of Ayurveda in view of India's intention to share knowledge on traditional medicine with the countries of the Global South.

The Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, considered the visit to the flagship facility as key to the objectives of achieving Universal Health Coverage in the countries of the African continent with the support of India’s Traditional Systems of Medicine.

Incorporating proven ancestral knowledge into mainstream healthcare can close access gaps for millions of people around the world, the Sonowal said in a video message welcoming the group of 15 diplomats.

After the inclusion of the African Union in the Group of Twenty (G20), an achievement of the Indian presidency, the nations of that region are ready to explore the power of the South Asian country, the Minister expressed and brought to notice that traditional medicine has always played an important role in meeting global healthcare needs.
