Cuba thanks Lithuania for its support at the United Nations General Assembly, in the fight against the blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean island.

Lithuania is a parliamentary republic with a head of Government – the prime minister – and a head of State – the president – who appoints the prime minister. The Parliament is a unicameral legislative body, and the country is divided into 60 municipalities whose mayors are elected by direct suffrage.

The most productive sectors of Lithuanian industry are chemical and food production, as well as machine building, carpentry, production of construction materials and ready-mixed concrete, iron and steel products, and refined hydrocarbons.
