Officials of Havanatur S.A., the international group of tour operators and travel agencies, stated this figure exceeds the initial projection, to which 30 media have joined, including television stations, specialized tourism press, and national media from 12 countries.
A few hours before celebrating World Tourism Day, there are several reasons for Holguin, especially Guardalavaca, welcome visitors to a resort that is the third Cuban tourist place.
Among the attractions is the Loma de la Cruz (Hill of the Cross), which takes its name from a wooden cross that existed at its summit more than two centuries ago and is a protective symbol for many people. Other places are the Mayabe viewpoint, Gibara town, Cayo Saetía, and the Chorro de Maita site, where the Archaeological Museum is located, which earned Holguín the title of archaeological capital of Cuba.
Regarding the tourist infrastructure of the northern coast of Holguin, the officials explained it has more than 6,400 rooms, without counting those designed for lovers of nature or city tourism.
Havanatur highlights that the central venue of the Megafam in the framework of World Tourism Day, on September 27, will be the Brisas Guardalavaca Hotel of Cubanacán Hotel Group, one of the first facilities built in the area.
Cuba, as a tourist destination, is experiencing a gradual recovery and expects to reach more than 3.5 million visitors at the end of this year.
