Terrorism against Cuban Embassy in the US condemned in Spain

Madrid, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) The Communist Party of Spain (PCE) and solidarity organizations on Monday condemned Sunday night's terrorist attack with fire bombs on the Cuban Embassy in Washington.

An individual threw two Molotov cocktails at the building, which fortunately he did not cause any personal injury. It is the second terrorist attack on the Cuban Embassy in the United States after another person opened fire with an assault rifle at that diplomatic mission on April 30, 2020.

In a statement of condemnation, the PCE recalled that in 2021, the Cuban Embassy in Paris, France, was also the target of an attack with Molotov cocktails that caused material damage.

Official statistics confirm that from 1959 to 2018, Cuban diplomatic objectives were targets of 581 terrorist attacks resulting in 365 deaths and 731 injuries. That figure does not include those committed years later.

“What happened yesterday in the United States highlights the impunity with which anti-Cuba terrorists act, under the protection of a complicit political system and fueled by the hate speeches made by the extreme right in Miami and its allies against the Cuban Revolution,” the PCE explained.

In its statement, the PCE held the Government of the United States responsible “as the most responsible one for the policies of harassment and bullying against Cuba. A criminal policy that feeds terrorist groups like those that perpetrated this vile attack.”

It also pointed out that the arson attack took place after President Miguel Díaz-Canel’s the successful visit to the United Nations General Assembly.

“We also warn that the lack of response from US authorities creates a dangerous precedent that paves the way for future attacks, and we demand that justice be done and impunity end,” the PCE statement concluded.

Along these lines, the La Avellaneda Cuba-Andalusia Cultural Association and the Spanish-Cuban Friendship Association of Málaga echoed the condemnations of such a vile action perpetrated on the night of September 24.

“It is not a simple attack perpetrated by someone who hates Cuba, and its people, it is a terrorist act and as such it must be judged by the United States Government, which, as on previous occasions, has abandoned its functions in the persecution of these attacks, thus allowing these small groups to feel total impunity, a joint statement from both solidarity groups stated.

They added, “The people of Cuba are suffering the biggest, illegal, inhumane and unjust economic, financial and commercial blockade that any country can endure,” and Washington is worsening it day by day.

They questioned how the US Government “dares to include Cuba on the list of countries that sponsor terrorism when attacks of these kind, like the one carried out last night are perpetrated on its own soil.”

And they wondered, “When has Cuba allowed such acts of vandalism against diplomatic venues accredited on its territory?”

The solidarity organizations of Malaga and Andalusia demanded that US authorities bring the weight of law against the aggressors, as well as the exclusion of Cuba from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism and the end to the cruel and criminal blockade against the Cuban people.
