In a statement, Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina condemned the systematic assassinations of Palestinians by Israel’s Army, and referred to the shooting of Abdurrahman Suleiman Abu Daghash, 32, and Asaad Jab’awi , 21, on Sunday morning during a military assault on the Nour Shams camp, in the West Bank.
Israel is trying to drag the region “into the realm of violence and escalation through its ongoing aggression,” the spokesperson warned.
He also criticized the incursion on Sunday by dozens of Jewish settlers into the Esplanade of the Mosques, in the Old City of East Jerusalem, and the military assault on Birzeit University, where seven students were detained.
Abu Rudeina stressed that the crimes will not deter the Palestinian people from continuing their legitimate struggle until they achieve their rights, including the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He recalled Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s recent speech at the United Nations in New York, where he assured that there will only be peace and stability in the region if the Palestinian people obtain all their rights.
