According to the state-owned KCNA, Kim sent a message of gratitude to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party and president of the People’s Republic of China, in response to the one he sent him on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.
The unwavering support from the Party, the government and the people of China stimulate our country’s struggles for independence and the defense of socialism, he noted.
Kim Jong Un expressed his conviction that the DPRK and the People’s Republic of China and their parties will continue to strengthen the ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation in accordance with the desire of their people.
China sent a high-level delegation headed by Liu Guozhong, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party and deputy prime minister of the Council of State, to the events marking the 75th anniversary of the DPRK.
In August 1948, the DPRK elected the Supreme People’s Assembly, and on September 3, a new Constitution was promulgated. Six days later, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was proclaimed with Kim Il Sung as prime minister.
