International organizations estimate that a quarter of the world’s population has contracted the disease.
In the opinion of the UN, the epidemic continues to be a critical challenge in all regions with reach in all countries on the planet.
Millions of people with tuberculosis lack quality care, including access to affordable diagnostic tests and treatments, especially in developing countries.
The meeting will seek consensus to adopt the draft political declaration with the commitment to implement a series of measures that will quickly reverse this situation.
