The commander of the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, said he was ready for a cease-fire and to initiate comprehensive political talks to put an end to the conflict with the Army, which has been going on for more than 5 months.
Dagalo made these statements from here, in a video message addressed to the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, which was released shortly before the speech of Sudan’s army chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and chairman of the Sovereign Transitional Council, to that meeting in New York, where he also called for the classification of the RSF as a terrorist group.
In his speech to the General Assembly, Al Burhan claimed that the paramilitaries committed human rights violations and war crimes in most regions of the country.
He also said that the RSF went against all components of society and, therefore, are a threat to international peace and security.
