Russia reiterates at UN the need to lift the US blockade against Cuba

United Nations, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, reaffirmed Russia's firm position on the need to lift the United States blockade against Cuba in a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez.

The meeting between both foreign ministers took place on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

Both ministers noted the invariable approach of their respective countries regarding the categorical unacceptability of the application of unilateral sanction measures in violation of the UN Charter.

During the meeting, the ministers paid special attention to strengthening the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership.

The foreign ministers recognized that Moscow and Havana maintain an intense dynamic political dialogue, and confirmed the mutual desire to increase interaction in the UN and other multilateral platforms.

They also exchanged views on current issues on regional and international affairs.
