In statements to the national and foreign press from the headquarters of the Electoral Power, the senior official explained that the request of this extremist sector of the Venezuelan opposition was unanimously approved by the rectors of the CNE, in order to provide “comprehensive technical service” to the political organization.

He pointed out they will act in accordance with the provisions established in the Constitution, the Organic Law of the Electoral Power and the Organic Law of Electoral Processes, among other applicable legal provisions.

Amoroso stated that on June 5, 2023, the Council received the signed communication from Jesús María Casal, president of the National Commission for Primary Elections of the opposition, and that he was appointed by the Unitary Platform.

He noted that Casal will be summoned to the CNE headquarters for a technical meeting with the rectors.

The president of the electoral body stressed that “all the decisions” adopted in this matter were approved unanimously.
