Rome, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador to Italy Mirta Granda received the 2023 Evento Donna Award in the diplomacy category at an event held at the Campidoglio in Rome, according to a press release.

A communiqué from the organizers of the annual event, published on the website of the Quotidiano del Lazio newspaper, noted that the award is intended to stimulate “the commitment, creativity and strength of women, warriors, multifaceted workers, queens of innovation, often against the tide.”

“I thank the Honorary Committee and the President of the Evento Donna Association, Maria Grazi Tetti for such an important acknowledgement of Cuban women’s role in society, of whom I am a representative, Granda said on Friday in a message on social media, a few hours after the ceremony, held Thursday at the Sala Promoteca in Rome.

The Evento Donna Association, directed and founded by Tetti, its current president, has been supporting for more than 15 years the rights of women, their equality and emancipation from all forms of discrimination, and promoting the recognition of their talent.

The Evento Donna International Award, organized by this association, is sponsored by the European Parliament, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage of the Lazio Region.

It highlights women’s efforts and achievements in areas of life such as Justice, Diplomacy, Defense, Culture, New Generation, Medicine and Prevention, Fight against Gender Violence, Journalism, Cinema, Inclusion, Industrial Development, Music, Sports, Art, Fashion, Food and Society and Scientific Research.

The Honorary Committee of the event, chaired by television journalist Maria Grazia Tetti, included renowned figures like Diana Battaggia, director of the United Nations Organization for International Development (UNIDO), and Antonella Polimeni, rector of La Sapienza University in Rome.

This year, in addition to the Cuban ambassador, the international journalist Mariangela Petruzzelli, Minister of Reforms Maria Elisabetta Aberti Casellati, and Italian actress and presenter Barbara Derossi, among others, received the award.
